As always, January is a busy month for your industry advocates here at GPGB.
TPIE, the vibrant annual tropical plant expo in Florida, provides us with the opportunity to say “hello” in person and share research-based information useful in your conversations with architects and designers.
And this year the audience for our AWEsome message expanded when board member Simon May and I participated in a panel discussion of moss walls and biophilic design. I was encouraged by the show of hands from people who’ve been on design teams working on buildings and spaces pursuing wellness certification, like Fitwel, WELL Building certification, and the Living Building Challenge. I’d love to see an annual survey on this question and watch where this number goes. Perhaps measuring this is a good fit for National Interiorscape Network?
And here’s some news about a project you supported in 2018 that continues to have a terrific impact. Last Thursday board member Jan Goodman took to the stage at the Boston Society of Architects Awards Gala. She had the audience of 400+ in stitches as she treated them to a screening of GPGB’s The LivingPlant™ video.
Humor is a wonderful way to open people’s hearts and minds, and it makes our message about the benefits of nature in the workplace memorable.
For those of you unfamiliar with The LivingPlant™, check it out here and share it freely. And our continuing thanks to those donors who made the film possible.
If you think this work informing building specifiers is important, and the spirit moves you, please join our efforts and become a supporter.
With gratitude,
Mary Golden
