Greetings!

The purpose of this brief message is to share opportunities to participate in industry learning and networking events. Some of these opportunities are time-sensitive.

Engaging with others at these events can provide you with information, relationships, and tools to help your company adapt and thrive. Why is this important? Because wellness in their buildings is becoming an even higher priority for your clients.

BOMA 2023 International Conference & Expo

With the BOMA/Yardi Sustainability Scholarship, BOMA is looking to recruit the next generation of sustainability leaders who understand the value of greening existing building operations and who share BOMA’s vision of sustainability and environmental stewardship.

The scholarship will be awarded to a select group of students or professionals studying or working within the sustainability field and covers registration to the 2023 BOMA International Conference & Expo, as well as up to $1,000 for associated costs, such as travel and lodging.

Scholarship recipients are also paired with an industry sustainability mentor, attend a special breakfast session in their honor, and receive tickets to the TOBY Awards Banquet in addition to the full conference registration.

There is no age or experience requirement for the scholarship, but applicants cannot have attended the BOMA International Conference & Expo previously. Applicants do not need to be BOMA members.

I participated in this scholarship program last year and highly recommend the experience. In addition to being partnered with a mentor and becoming better informed about CRE’s sustainability issues, I met people I’ve stayed in touch with, and saw some technology on the Expo floor I believe might have applications for providing the metrics that prove occupants prefer plant-filled spaces.

NOTE: A letter of recommendation is required to apply.

Application Deadline: May 15th, 2023

I also participated in this scholarship program last year and it was a memorable experience. I was especially interested in learning more about ESG and if there are any metrics emerging related to biophilic design increasing a portfolio’s ESG score. With a full-day workshop focused on ESG topics, Greenbuild was definitely the place to be to learn more about this. And the tours were excellent!

The Nature Summit

The Nature Summit is sponsored in part by Justin Bogardus of NatureRx. You might recall Justin as being the creative spirit who wrote and directed GPGB’s LivingPlant video.

The Nature Summit is a free, virtual-only, multi-day convening of thinkers and doers interested in answering the questions “What important lessons does nature have to teach us?” and “How do we connect with the healing power of the natural world?”

Over 30+ presenters including Paul Hawken, co-editor of Project Drawdown, and Jennifer Walsh, co-host of the Biophilia podcast will be sharing their thought over the course of the Summit.
